In all seriousness, I've considered building a shop with living quarters temporarily while I save up for a house, I've been looking at modular homes, 3 bed/2 bath 1200-1500 square foot houses,

That's the way to do it. I know a few people who built a separate living quarters in a barn while they save a build a house.
