Well a little elbow grease and determination and some help from the forum tribe, I've got it buttoned up!
Schurkey, foam seals at the rear of the hood where replaced, foam inside cab where HVAC plastic box meets sheet metal of firewall is intact and in pretty good shape. Bad heater core was the problem for my "Luke warm" air temp and smell of coolant inside cabin area!
At lowest fan speed and temp dial turn all the way to HOT and all air at the dash outlets as instructed air temp is around 148 at dash vents, outside air was 48 degree's at time of testing, engine temp was 180 to 190, test drive resulted in a hotter than hell in the cab, with fan speed at highest setting and cruising down the freeway at 75mph, I'm calling this good for me!
Everything else under the hood is working as it should for now with no leaks!!! Thanks for all the info and advice with this project!
Now to finish up the interior swap out of 60/40 bench for buckets and a center console.
