anyone ever used the "Smittybuilt" snatch strap?

I realized the advantage of a kinetic bungee strap while out mudding this last weekend... my heady duty nylon strap snapped....
and a "bubba-rope" is waaaaay expensive.

Never had a store bought one. Ours is a 2 inch fire hose with a shackle tied on each end. The stretch is unbelievable...

Not sure of the shackle size we used. You have to take the pin off it to put it over a 2 inch ball. This keeps it from becoming a hazard if it ever was to break. Also keeps from having the annoying problem of the strap coming off the ball at the least expected moment. Ours is a 50 footer, probably 45 now from cutting the ends off it and tying on the shackles. But yes, a fire hose is tough and unbelievably stretchy.

if you are hooking to a ball you are an idiot, get a solid receiver with a clevis or put the hitch pin through the strap loop. unless you like shattered rear windows, holes in your tailgate and being knocked out by whatever else comes at you.

My friend has like a 50 or 60 foot strap that looks just like that smittybuilt one as well as a 75 foot (i think) helicopter style strap. its pretty cool because it barely puts any load on the truck because it works almost like a rubber band. Its also very safe.

I had a tiny 10 footer regular nylon strap that snapped when I got stuck in a deep hole. Now im stuck using a 50 foot chain. I dont really like chains, but I like it because its long. I use to connect it to my nylon strap just as a safety precaution but then it snapped, so its just chain now.

I wouldnt mind a 75+ foot strap just because i have to pull people out and they are usually way off in a mud hole. So it would be cool to have a nice big strap

I got to use it for the first time this weekend =)
a big V6 sand rail got stuck in a dune-hole and after a lot of maneuvering for a good spot, yanked it right out.
guys were so happy, cause all they had were little "rangers" they did NOT expect a full-size GMT 400 to make it where they were lol XD

so pissed I didn't video it....

We do hook the clevis on the ball, but it is correctly sized where you have to take the pin out to put it over the ball, and once the pin is re-installed, it cannot come off.

No need fot calling gim an idiot. If you read properly. .. not Just the first line. . He clearly said that the shackle stays tght to the ball with the pin in.. not any worse then a tongue on a trailer
