That seems awful light for a 20 foot boat and trailer.

Are you sure it's that light?

Yeah. Calae 195. The boat is 2400 and I estimate the trailer at 100. I guess the trailer could be more then that with the wheels and tires...

If you only plan summer towing, I would suggest a "C" model for several reasons.

It will get slightly better fuel mileage, have a slightly higher GVWR and should be cheaper to buy in to.

2WD suburbans/Tahoes/Yukons don't seem to be as common but you might be able to find a decent Crew cab in 2WD at a reasonable price. Lots of work truck CC's out there if you don't mind something a bit more "base" to haul the boat back and forth to the lake. The more base it is, the cheaper it will be to buy in as well.

Slippery boat ramps can often be a bummer with a 2wd though....

I will also use the truck for hunting and light wheeling. I can probably count the number of times a year I have engaged the 4wd on my current truck on two hands. But when I have used it, I needed it.

I am looking for a 98 and newer GMT400 Suburban, Yukon, or Escalade. 98s and newer are supported by my tuning software HP Tuners. I think the 5.7L will give me the best balance of power and fuel economy.

Are you sure hptuners supports the black box PCM?

I've been out of tuning gassers for a couple year now (moved on to diesel tuning) but I seem to recall that efilive was the only ones who supported black box....
