Gottcha -

builder guy says he'd sell the block with Eagle crank, rods and pistons for 1800 - GM assembled.

See what it costs through summit for those parts and if it's a good deal buy it. Throw a set of alum heads on there and a nice intake and call it a day.

GM assembled with an Eagle crank? Is that the way GM sells the stroker shortblock?

Yes, if your poppet injectors are no good. Otherwise, no need to fix what isn't broke.

Spoke with ATK, Comp cams and Edelbrock. Heres what I cam up with.

Short Block; ATK 383 (SP15). Scat Nodular crank & forged rods. 18CC dish pistons 9.8:1
Heads; Edlebrock E-Teck 170 (64cc) 1.55/1.95 valves
Cam; Comp XR276HR 224/230 on 5.20/510 lift
Roller Rockers; Summit 1.6 self aligning
Lifters, timing, rods and lifter guides also Comp Cams.
Taylor intake spacer
Summit aluminum dist.
Pacesetter LTs
ACDelco water pump
New Dayco Hoses, Belt, Poly Motor/Trans mounts, Elect fans, Belt tensioner & Idler, Moroso pan, ARP fastners.

Just need to make sure Blackbear is good on a tune here before pulling the trigger, I'll keep the black box. Also prolly keep the 4L60E once I find a shop for the build. Will run a TCI 11" converter.

Finishing off the rear end today (new spring bushings, U-Bolts (man they were ready to snap!!) Auburn diff and 3.73s) and installed new U-joints. Moving to the intake next for some clean up work on the lower manifold and some light polishing on the TB and cut the diffuser off.

right!?

Ended up hitting the easy button. Blueprint 383. Iron heads 2.02 1.60, 9.5:1 with 210/220 480 lift (well 5.12 with 6.1 rollers) on 112 lsa. Some light porting on the lower intake, TB and MAF with a Taylor spacer. Also went with some 36 lb injectors. I really wanted to go with some aluminum heads but the budget was getting tight an still need to build out the trans and getting the rear all set ate into my cash.

Looking good! Too late now but it is so much easier to lift the bed to change the pump in a truck.
