MPG Question (point me in the right direction)

when i fill up the pump stops at like 17. thats roughly a 16 gal tank with filler neck makes 17.

Perhaps your fuel level gauge/sender is way off? Ever run it dry?

Yep 26 gallon on shortbed's and 34 gallon on longbed's!

its roughly on the last bar a little lower. i can only fill 16 gallons each time wheres my extra 10 gallons? i dont see how it can be a different tank considering it fits in between the frame. theres no way anything but the tank i have will fit

Well it sounds like either the gauge or the sender are way off.

Next time you get to where your gauge has been telling you its "empty" get out and knock the gas tank lightly with a piece of wood or something...I'll bet you hear a solid thud and not a hollow sound. That'd be your gas!

im only getting about 200 miles per tank and there are some slight stops but other then that moslty regualer driving and somtimes granny driving i think im not running right

anyway to check/ or reprogram them? when i bought the truck almost a year ago it had new lines tank and sender in it, i know that because the dumbass electrical nutted the wires on top of the tank

Its most likely the sender in the pump....honestly, its not that big of a problem to warrant pulling and replacing unless/until the fuel pump goes.

Haha makes me damn proud of my 280-300 I can get on the ECSB! My old '92 RCSB could get close to 400 and sometimes over if it was all highway no problem.
