One frame on top of another and spaced with strips of wood and what looks like giant bent and rusty "u bolts" holding it all together:

Funny thing is, it would actually burn with wood in the frame.....

That's very common on even brand new commercial vehicles. Most beds are built with full sub frames instead of attaching to the original frame. Even the wood is very common.

Look at the picture again.

The drive axle is attached to the vehicle frame with unbolts and wood.

It's not the bed attached to the frame with unbolts, its the bloody drive axles!

There's not an upfitter out there that builds that way.

Service body or flatbed, yes. Drive axles, no.
