Yes you need the wire harness above and an antenna adapter.
The box you are talking about is it below the dash?
If so remove it and thats your wiring plug. It is a factory amplifer. I removed mine when I changed the radio.

its part of the head unit. has two maybe three wires that are red and yellow and are twisty, comes to a box then has two or three of the same wires coming out and then stereo jacks

hey tyler i was reading through your build thread and saw somthing about your bumper not fiting right and that you used 2 different brackets just so you know the bumper brackets on i think 94+ truck made the bumpers stick out more for the grill i know there is a gap on my 88 with the 92 grill and 98 bumper brackets

yep i figured it out, the deisel bumper came with brackets so i figured since my passengers sides were bent id just swap them, that created issues. i took the bumper off the next day and swapped the drivers two from the diesel bumper and it mounted and lined up like butter.

as for the grille. the mounting is completely differnt so i only have the two top ones and the bottom is ziptied. i dont like it but i havent had the chance to research yet.

It looks like either a noise suppresor or an inline fuse. You just wire the radio to that harness adapter like any other aftermarket radio.

Did I read right that this is a head unit with a flip out screen on? The three wires that are coming out of that box are most likely Yellow: 12V+ Constant, Red: 12V+ Switched (ACC), and Black: Ground. I know on some of the pioneer units with the DVD feature in, they have a lockout input that disables the DVD feature unless the vehicle in in Park. If you have the model number and manufacture of the radio, I can do a look up and verify whats what for you Tyler!
