Hello, I just wanted to post and say hello. I recently bought a 97 Suburban off of auction for what I think may have been a steal. After Fees it was $1100, which was nearly our max budget.
We had bought it completely sight unseen, other than the post information, because our daily driver has died again. My daily prior to this was a 2015 GTI, which was nothing but problems. Might not be everyones cup of tea here, and I realize what im married to for the time being. (We have a terrible loan on it, and will need to fix it up and pay a few more months before I can get of it, but thats another conversation).
Anyway, I searched all across the state looking for just something running as a daily until we can fix our 1st money pit; and it was very slim pickings. I was very fortunate that I was able to find an SUV at our price point, let alone a GMT-400 platform vehicle.
Its got 204k miles, and starts right up. It had a dead battery, and needs a new heater hose connecter (leaking coolant), as well as a leaking power steering pump. Wiper motor panel needs replaced, typical doorhandles, and taillight panel. All of which will be fixed in the next few weeks once I have funds.
It was totalled due to collision, but cmon, this panel is easily replaceable. Hood still closes and everything. I had a mechanic look over it and he thinks its in great shape, and got a good one. Still structurally sound, minimal rust.
Interior is used, but nothing too bad. No major stains, tears, or smells. What do you guys think?
Hood peel is from the tape holding the hood when I bought it. Very very sticky stuff was going to pull it right off no matter which way I went about it. I appreciate the read, and will look forward to chatting with you all in the near future!
