Good afternoon, I am new to this forum. A few days ago I was feeling the itch for a fullsize 1500 again my s10s are fun but I need more room.
I was crusing through the classifieds and found a decent builder that was not ridiculously priced like many I have seen. The owner was an awesome guy he told me what I consider everything about this 1500. 1996 work truck
The good:
A/C is COLD
It drives very smooth
No broken glass
No major body work needed
Runs good
4L60e seems to be happy with life

The bad:
You must be registered for see images attach

It is a 4.3
BYPASSED heater core
Manual doors
Base 1500
Interior hates life
The seat is WELL sat in
Rubber floor mat/carpet
No tilt wheel
Blue interior
Long bed
Single headlight model

With all that said, as soon as I saw it, she felt like a family member already.. I want a street cruiser that will be fun.

My plan of attack:
New grille and lights w/ LEDs
New seats from a Tahoe/Suburban
New carpet from ACC
Spindles, springs and flip kit
Cowl hood
Roll pan
Hidden hitch
5.3 swap with Zo6 cam
4L80e HD shift kit
Convert to SWB (not 110% sure)
ADD positrac unit
Longtube headers, magnaflow mufflers
Either 18" or 20" wheels
Small audio system (gotta have music)

Welcome from Alberta Canada
Nice little start to a project there for sure.
Your plans sound great and well thought out. EXCEPT for trying to do a SWB on it. Unless you can find a frame to swap, it is very difficult to do it on these trucks. There are a few attempts on here, they didn't go well and the hackery was nasty!
But, maybe you have the skills and ability to make it happen. But it's not as straightforward as the older trucks.
Keep us posted, and we like lots of pictures.
