Help starting truck with no transmission?

I have a 96 Sierra 5.7 and 4l60e, the transmission is out of the pickup and would like to start the engine. Do I need to bypass the neutral safety plug or anything else?

Why not just turn the key to "crank" like normal? If the neutral safety switch is on the transmission, a simple jumper wire across the correct pins in the vehicle harness should take care of that.
