If you have a 97+ your power steering might be in full boost . And it's like pinky steering which I hate!

Thought about posting this a minute ago but wasn't sure of the year of his truck and didn't really know if it fit what he was describing. Definitely a possibility if the steering wheel feels like it turns too easily.

My steering was loose like you are talking about. I changed out the steering box about 6 or 8 months ago, and that helped some. Mine is a 97. I figured with 200.000 miles, it was time.

Tightening up the steering box adjustment has never worked for me on any vehicle I have tried it on, it usually resulted in stiff spots because the box was junk. Your mileage may vary.... but it may be best to swap it out for another unit.

When it comes to steering boxes, by the time they need to be adjusted they should really be replaced...

There's a sensor that needs to be replaced to fix that problem. I was pretty sure there was a thread about it on here but I can't find it. There's some info at the link below.

I'm sure Richard (someotherguy) would know specifics as he's the one who replied with the useful info over there.

I replaced the sensor aswell and didn't work, and if it does then its only for a limited time till the problem pops up again ( Bad design ) The pressure Valve in the back of the pump will go bad aswell. GM came up with a fix it kit..........I chose to never have that problem again!
