Why don't you just find a factory shortbed dually and put the bed on a 1/2ton. In 99 and 00 GM made CCSB duallys you know..... Or just get the factory fiberglass fenders.

Is there dually axles that are shorter to allow both sets of tires under the bed?

I thought I seen something like that somewhere...

So they did make some? You wouldn't have a picture would ya?
Not on hand, no

If you want to see the track widths and stuff, look at the GM Upfitter Body builder manual for 99 CK trucks. http://www.gmupfitter.com/publicat/1999_BB/LDPDF/CK.PDF

The K1500 has a roughly ~1640mm trackwidth, the same as a the narrow DRW chassis cab. Now, the problem is a regular pickup has a wider rear frame, and the inner tire would obviously interfere with the spring and frame. Chassis cabs have a standardized 30" wide straight frame rail width, so they can get away with it.

Wait..wait..wait. They did make Short Bed duallies in 99 and 2000? That was still using GMT400 body style, right? Wow, never seen one, I would like to have one with the 6.5 Detroit to go with my 1500.
