Do it cableguy..! And a projector retro..!
Yea, I plan to tacle this AC project this weekend cause my dash needs to be finished by MECA World Finals ...
Those projectors are a little out of my reach as of now, however I plan to pick up my new lenses soon to get ready for the projectors ... hopefully
But my dash, A-pillars, kick pannels, and headliner is a priority issue that needs to be done VERY soon ... and somehow round up the money for the MECA trip .... NO Pressure here guys ...

I saw that too. But the problem with that particular setup is that he cant close the lid. Maybe recessing it a bit would help-theres plenty of room behind.

And it was all in grey, which matches my truck!!!

Does anyone out there have a Suburban or Tahoe heater control with rear defroster and the ears broken off? I need to take the ears off anyway, but I'd rather not destroy a good one.

My ash trey is set up in 2 separate pieces instead of one like that ... I may go try and find one like that for mine ...
are you going to try and make this thing close up and be hidden ?? or set up like the one in the pic ??

Yeah, the one in my truck is just like yours. The one I got at the JY was from a 95. Yes, Im going to recess it enough to allow the door to close. Theres plenty of room. Once I get started, do you want me to chronicle it here, or do you want me to start my own thread? I need to get another HVAC head to cut up before I start.

It sure does not hurt my feelings at all if you want everything to stay here ... or you can start a new thread, I'm tuned in and will update my progress either way Sir ...

I got my Ash trey assembly out today was as far as I got with mine ... Rained most of the day ...

OK then. So I got out my hacksaw blade and went to town.

The first piece I cut out was the back piece that allows the HVAC unit to recess back enough. This is the piece I cut out.

Then I cut out the power outlet mounts being careful not to cut into the handle part. Wish I could find my Dremel-wouldve made it a lot easier......Oh, and dont cut off the left side of the door-you need that to keep it from just flopping open. And dont lose the spring either. Youll need to sand down the ridges in the left hand side for clearance and the stop on the right side (in the black part) for the same reason. Im going to drill out the rivets so I can take the metal plate out too.

Then I took the head unit and trimmed off the ears.

And got this.

Then I trimmed up all the cuts and sanded down all the ridges in the way and this is all the stuff I cut out.

Heres pics of it fitting in and the door closing.

and this shows how much it protrudes out the back.

All in all, took me about a half hour to get this far. Tomorrow, Im going to clean it up a bit more and try to mount it permanently
