Decent welder for a newbie?

I have heard that Hobart is made by Miller, just a subsidiary brand, should be a good one.

I've abused the absolute piss out of our portable gen. stick welder and it's had no problem holding up between me and my dad, for another hobby machine I'd have no issues going with another Hobart.

I know this is an old thread but I have a Hobart 140 I like it has worked well for me and when checking components many of them say Miller on them.

I ended up getting a Miller synchrowave 200 TIG recently, the buying process was a nightmare, but the welder itself is really nice.
