blown shocks & shock types

hey guess just wondering the tell tale signs of a blown shock? also what are you all running for shocks? currently im running pro comps, model unknown.

I really worked my truck with a lot of weight in it and I knew my shocks were taking a beating. They were old so I didn't care and when I was done, they were leaking visibly.
I put new Bilsteins on it and it rides as good as new if not better. Great shocks.
