Thanks for the two or three posts that helped. To the others, you knew exactly what I meant so need to get sassy about it. I've been calling them roll bars since about 1970 and I'm not about to change.

Depending on the emergency, sure it will. Most emergency or parking brake systems are mechanical not hydraulic, so in the event of a leak or system failure the e-brake is a viable option.

Mine saved me in the Suburban years ago when my rear brake line blew as I was coming to a stop in traffic. Not only did it keep me from smashing into the BMW in front of me, I was able to use it to limp into a nearby parking lot.

Regarding the OP, I'd vote for Bilstein 4600s as that's what I run on my '97s and I've been very happy with them. No idea how they work in a lowered application though, both of my trucks are stock ride height.
