Question is can a 350 bolt and run to that transmission??? My dad just got it and it has a spun bearing and im trying to talk him into a v8 350 tbi it has the 4.3 v6 tbi.:weld:

If it has an NV4500, then yes. The 4.3 is basically a SBC with the front 2 cylinders cut off. 5.0's & 5.7's came from the factory in front of that trans.

My mistake! Typing without thinking, or proof reading! I meant to say NV3500. Which is more than likely (99.99%!) what was behind the V6.
As far as identifying it, it should be listed on the build sheet in the glove box. Code? Sorry can't help there. Other members know that stuff better than I.

Look at the trans. If it's aluminum and the bellhousing is one piece with the transmission, it's an NV3500. If it's cast iron and has a removable bellhousing, it's an NV4500.

Either will "bolt up" to anything from a 4.3 to a 454, TBI or Vortec, or even a 6.2 or 6.5 diesel. IMO an NV3500 is right on the edge of enough strength to hold up reliably to a 5.7.
