Short duallys are nice if your going to need the weight capacity and not the bed length. Obviously with a camper the 8' bed is nice.

So i'm having an issue determining what tire size I should have - 235/85R16 or 255/85R16. I currently have 225/75R16s on it and they are just too small. Going to the 255s basically is like a gear change from the 4.10s to 3.73s.

I had 235's to start with and then I did 265's in the front and 235's in the back. Now I'm on 265's all of the way around with a 2.5" spacer in the rear because I wanted to be able to put real tire chains on. I considered the 255's but decided against it because of limited tire choices and the fact that I am 5'8" and my wife is 5'0". We use the truck as a truck so being short with a tall truck just doesn't work for us.

I used Plasti-dip on the bumper. I thought about beadliner but i'm worried it would look too rough and not stick well enough. At least the plasti-dip is easily removed and re-done.

I have a set of H4 Bi-xenon HIDs on order for the lights. Will be High and Low beam foglights.

Great idea was gonna tell yuh but read this as I scrolled down :D

I have the 245/75/r16 10 ply
I think they're like 29 or 30's on the front of mine

Well I'm looking to possibly give it a little crank and 2" block as well, I'm trying to gain height without a lift kit - basically it's just too dang low as it is. I've gotten it stuck twice in the sand. My choices are either 235/85 or 255/85, I want to keep a narrow tire. With the 235 I don't need a spacer, and the tires are cheaper. Those two facts alone save me about $700. The other is I'm not sure how well a 255 will fit up front - as in if it will rub. It's like running a narrow 285/75R16 which nobody seems to put on a dully.

Definitely going to a larger tire than that.

I done a little free time interwebz searching here at work and it seems 285s will fit with a 1.5-2" spacer on the rear. My question is, does any dually manufacturer make a dually spacer that is already 1.5 to 2" wider in the rear without the need to run another bolt on spacer? 285 would probably wake up a little more opportunities on finding a tire you like. I'm sure with a slight crank and block you could clear them no issues.

Oh I already have found 235s and 255s I like, no problem there. Doesn't matter if i run either I will need a bolt on spacer between the duals, no way around it. The problem with a 285 and 2" spacer is the tires will start sticking out past the fender and will make loading he camper even tighter. 255 is the same height anyway. Narrower tires generally yield better MPG as they have less rolling resistance.

Sand is the reason that I went to 265's in the front with 235's in the back. The flotation difference is amazing.

how did the setup work out for you? I'm considering 235s so I'm not needing a spacer, considered that with 265s in front.....

But going 255s all the way around I think the difference would be negligible in the front vs a 265.

It worked well. I had considered 255's but the height issue and the fact that with 235's there was 1/4" between the tire bulge at the bottom. I would have needed a spacer to go any wider in the rear.
