Hey....had a "shower thought" while driving today.
Have a 91 C1500 w/700r4. I'm seriously now thinking that next year at tax time is the time for a 6.0 w/4l80e swap. My question is this, and yes, I did try searching for the answer.
Does the column shifter just bolt back up? Or is there some work there that needs to be done?

My guess is just get the linkage for 92-94 down on the chassis/transmission side and it should bolt right up like a 4L80 only swap. Would this swap keep the trans cross member in the same spot?

I believe the cross member has to move back 3" or so.
Because I know some are cable shifted, if the donor vehicle was column shifted, try and get all the bits and stuff?
Maybe it would just be a good excuse to get a nice Lokar for the floor, lol.

A 6.0/4L80 truck will be cable shifted and yours should have linkage. I don't recall off hand how the linkage stuff works, nor do I know if the arm off your 700 will fit a 4L80.

Ya, I have linkage for sure, remember removing it when I swapped a new 700 in after grenadine the OG. But aren't 4l80e's just a electronic 400? And those have been around a long time, and can't all be cable shifted. Surely there has to be a "easy" answer to this.
One of you had to have hooked up a 4L80 to a column.

Yes 92-94 trucks had linkage, not cables, to shift their 4L80 transmissions. That's why I've been saying what I have.
