    Suspension lift questions

<<I have no experience with 6bt swaps, but i do recall reading that a bodylift is almost mandatory when doing the swap. I know you said you measured, but thats just what i remeber reading According to this link, it makes life easier but not required. In my case, I might end up having to use a...

    Suspension lift questions

<<First of all, awesome rig! Thanks! <<Second, do you have a steering stabilizer? It's doesn't have a steering stabilizer. <<I'm sure you've got to have a little bit of a lift to clear the larger oil pan There's enough clearance to remove the lift and clear the pan <<If I'm not mistaken...

    Suspension lift questions

I've got a 1996 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 with a 4" Rancho Suspension lift and 3" body lift. It's also got a Cummins 6BT engine up front which adds about 500 lbs of weight up front over stock. The tires are 35". The handling is miserable and ponderous. The steering reacts very slowly to steering...

    Removing suspension lift kit

I checked that and it seems like it will clear the front differential. Does anyone know how many hours of labor am I looking to remove this lift? Now back to my other question on a replacement mount: It seems like they only make replacement mounts for 2001-2010 Chevy's. Will this part work or...

    Removing suspension lift kit

Well, once I remove the suspension lift, then I'll work on the body lift but that's going to be more complicated. Now back to my other question on a replacement mount: It seems like they only make replacement mounts for 2001-2010 Chevy's. Will this part work or could it be adapted for my 96...

    Removing suspension lift kit

Well, the Cummins 6BT engine that's under the hood would not have enough room without the Body Lift. At the very least, I would have to get a hood scoop and go to electric fans.

    Removing suspension lift kit

Thanks for the tip. I went to Cognito's website but I could only find replacement mounts for 2001-2010 Chevy's. Will this part work or could it be adapted for my 96? http://www.cognitomotorsports.com/products/695/Differential_Mount_Fix_-_2001-2010_Chevy_1500HD_4wd.html

    Removing suspension lift kit

Oh I see. So I would need to weld another mount to the frame. I want the rig stock height. Currently, it's also got a 3" body lift so it's got a combined lift of 7" plus 35" tires. The vehicle currently drives as if you're not connected to the road. It's also very hard to climb into the...

    Removing suspension lift kit

I've got a 1996 Chevy Tahoe that has a 4” suspension lift made by Rancho. What is involved in removing this lift? I've heard that there may have been some components that were replaced or modified when the lift was put on. If so, which components will I have to get to lower this vehicle to...

    Need engine experts

Bummer, it looks like there is nothing good on this engine except maybe 1 head. There is a junkyard nearby that sells used short blocks for $150 and $150 for each head that has been magnafluxed. That comes out to $450. Not sure if I want to put that kind of money into this vehicle.

No, it's not recessed. But it looks like that due to the way the light is shining at it.

    Need engine experts

I've got a 1999 Tahoe with a bad engine. When I opened the engine up, I found that the pistons and rods were broken on the front 2 cylinders (cylinder 1 & 2). The previous owner said that the engine blew up (with a loud bang) while starting it in the morning in his driveway. The block is...

Flat towing with a tow bar

I'm going to be flat towing with a tow bar a 1972 Chevy 4x4 from Washington to Texas. I'll be going through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico and Texas. It'll be around 2500 miles total. I'll be using my Suburban. I'm pretty sure that the truck will need to be licensed to tow it...
