    mine cracked a head at ~118k miles, I replaced both heads and everything above them, then at ~123k miles going down the freeway the trans lost 3rd + 4th gear and then the engine stalled while holding 55mph in 2nd gear...totally ***** the rear main bearing when it locked up tight like that...

    yep, factory. It didn't look as ty in 1989 but that was a long time ago, the tape they use is really ty and the glue gets all gooey and falls apart leaving just some fiber strands...heatshrink and split loom plastic tubing for me thanks.

    I have no idea, they went in with the new crate motor along with a full stainless magnaflow system, built trans, etc etc. The new engine is a lot snappier than the old rod knocking one if that helps :p

    rear end swap question

    It doesn't take much to leave 2 black marks on the street in a pickup truck with no weight over the back, even on right/left turns. Get 1 of the rear tires stuck between a couple of rocks in sand/mud and you'll see only 1 spin - unless someone swapped the rearend before you got it.

    that's about $300 too high, go find a diy junkyard like www.pickapart.com in your area and find a rearend on a 1/2 price weekend, $100 drum to drum. my tahoe has a factory 3.73 w/g80 rear, so they can't be all that hard to find.
