Tonight has been long, currently 3:46am but I'm home! Stupid dang tow truck. One of the injector lines started leaking super bad and IMO I thought it was a better idea just to drive home. I couldn't do anything to fix the injector line where I was at and didn't think it would be a good idea to try towing a truck, and this was around midnight. But I got the tires, and the guy was super cool.

But on the plus side, this was the first vehicle I really was able to drive with a P-pump 12v Cummins, and I was impressed. Seemed like it always had decent power no matter what gear you were in. So that's a plus to look forward to having one in the HD.

So here is how it looked when I came home. No 98 k1500 but I got my 19.5 tires!!

Shockingly no it's all class C. I'd need a CDL if the truck GVWR was over 26,001 and this F600 is 26,000 lol. It's got normal juice brakes too, but it the parking brake is air.

I will at some point! I don't want to deal with a damn tow truck for a few days, that **** seriously stressed me out last night lol

Got a couple around here that are over the 26k. I see few of these smaller places using drivers with c class that get busted when they should have a b class.

Finally got my Cummins block. Couldn't talk him out of letting me rip apart a complete 1st Gen, but he did give me this block and not charge me anything for it. Ironically this was the original engine in the tow truck I drove a few posts back, it was pulled because it wouldn't hold a head gasket, and the PO did a bunch of head work and that didn't fix it. So I need to tear it apart and get the block decked. Hopefully that won't be too much.

Transmission is still up in shambles. Don't know what I'll do yet but I can at least start on the engine build. And because it's probably going to snow pretty heavily here in the next few days I'll try to get this block in the shop and start going to town. AFAIK this block has around 250k on it if not less.

Oh and that Ford emblem on the valve cover will be the first thing to go. They said it ran good minus the coolant leak. The tow truck has a p pump so they took that off this engine and put all the VE stuff on from the tow trucks new engine.

Damn, I wish I could get free stuff like that! Hopefully it's not in too bad of shape from sitting in the elements for a while?

No kidding, I don't need that negativity in my life!! But I plan to go through it and make it good!

Doesn't look too bad, was covered up with a tarp. Wiggled the connecting rods and there was some play but they were not rusted in place. The intake looks pretty rusty though, I'm not liking that. If I really wanted to, he would have sold me a 90 2wd ram truck with an auto for $2500 since that's what he paid for the truck in 2010 which to me at the moment is quite a bit of money and with this block I can at least go through and overhaul it and buy adapter plates and whatever for the $2500 that other truck would have cost. Granted I'd have a running and driving truck with a transmission. But I want to definitely get a manual trans!

Did some more research and found out that ford called it the "Ford 1060 Diesel" and it was rated at 190hp. But that was about it, this is an industrial block and I could not find **** out about the "D" or "0427U" casting numbers either.

I've also been thinking about transmission stuff, and looking at this entire project it's going to be f*ing expensive.

Engine build I imagine will probably be $1800 or so with the block decked, overhaul kit, hydroboost power steering, gaskets, water pump, KDP kit, **** like that. I need a set of injectors too so that might bump the cost up another $500.

Now where I'm freaking is the transmission stuff. I can't find a NV4500 anywhere even close, closest one was this GM NV4500 for $1900!! I really don't want to go with the 4L80e because I've read several issues and that requires a $1,000 adapter, custom flexplate, 6.0 powerstroke starter, and a custom trans computer. I figured NV5600s can't be that bad... until you see a $1500 core on a $3,000 transmission. $4,500 is ridiculous to me, and it's a little more expensive to get a used one from a wrecked truck with no core charge. Ripping a ****** Getrag out of a first gen is out of the question since he won't let me rip apart a complete 1st gen since he hoards them all, then I figured ZF trans. The ZF5 is easily the easiest trans for me to get my hands on, but that's still a $800 engine adapter, custom pilot bushing, cummins flywheel, ZF5 clutch, etc. Just expensive af for everything. He has a 2wd ZF6 from a 7.3 sitting in a closet with 19k miles, so I might be able to get that.

What a PITA trying to plan this **** out.
