Sometimes I've heard that switching LED bulbs in stock housing you have to ground them separately..try it and see maybe that'll help

Live action!!

It's actually a plug and play LED assembly but I suspected it might be a grounding issue myself. I'll add an additional ground to the housing and see what happens.

Adding to my list of things that need doing with a really weird 3rd brake light issue. I replaced the OEM light with a LED unit. Cargo light worked fine but could not get the 3rd brake light to work at all...until I tried it with the door open. Works perfectly with the dome lights on but only when the dome lights are on. Suggestions on what the problem might be?

I don't think my 3rd brake light works. I don't think it ever has, actually. I've put a brick on the pedal when testing lights, so it's not just that I'm never behind my truck when the brake lights are lit up. I'll have to try it with the door open.

Got the doors blacked out between the windows which I think gives the truck a little more updated look and makes it look even longer like it needed to look longer. Also the first time since I bought it that the sun actually shined long enough to get it cleaned up for real. I love this old truck!!

For those that didn't already know, we had a fairly spectacular crash in the dragster back in July. The video actually went viral and now has been chosen for the to 10 video's of 2014 on bangshift.com. LOL...must have been a slow year. Check it out on the link. :)

I realize that you guys have seen it a million times but I'm an LED beginner so bear with me. :)

I started working on the dash and doors today. Blue to match the JVC head unit and the blue interior...

Pretty happy with it so far. I did all 4 doors also but I didn't have the correct bulb for the power mirror switch. I took it apart but that bulb is not like anything I have. More research on that one I suppose. Apparently there is also something going on with the light in the driver door lock button because I can't get it to work with an led or a regular light.

I also changed the thermostat and the sending unit for the temp gauge. Discovered that the old thermostat was stuck open so apparently the 120 degrees that I was seeing on the gauge was really the engine temp. Seems like it runs better now that it actually comes up to temp. Hopefully changing the fuel pump tomorrow.

No soldering for any of these bulbs. They are plug and play. Only took about an hour to change all of them.

your third brake light looks like my 3rd brake lights chrome cousin, if it is a putco light, email them about the issue and they will send out the pigtail adapter to correct the issue
