Any car with amber turn signals factory does not use a completely clear lens with an amber bulb.

Um... false? Here is a picture of my Mazda Protege... which came factory with a clear turn signal bezel and amber bulb... just like millions of other cars on the road.

You are SERIOUSLY over reacting to this whole thing.

If you look at the lense, the diffussion is minimal. Given how terrible our reverse lenses are at actually casting light, I would bet it would be perfectly safe to use as is... Now factor in that he said he's using an LED which will not focus the light correctly as the lends is designed to... effectively diffusing it...

I will also enter in for consideration that many guys with 04-06 GTOs flip the reverse and turn signals (both 1156 bulbs) just for giggles, and I can tell you from experience that interchanging them does not change the output of either bulb.

Here is a pic of that for reference... you can see which one is amber for your reference:

And here is one reversed:

So that is an illuminated amber bulb functioning as a turn signal in a reverse housing... I'M BLIND!!!! ZOMG!

^ this you missed the part about completely clear...............

See above pic... and repeat of statement already made.

Those GTO lights have a diffuser right over the bulb right in the center of both the reverse and turn, so that really doesnt matter which one is where.

Ok its kinda cool in theory but let's be serious who wants to go through all the time and trouble its going to take to make this work? Especially when its all said and done you still wont have reverse lights and youll have a tiny blinking square that will probably look like shyt anyway. Just my two cents

I generally don't like resorting to negativity in public forums, but would you please READ? Your stubborn defense of a position you cannot present any substantiated argument for is frustrating. You're responding to one third of what I just posted because its all you can even try to counter. The light that comes directly off of the front of the bulb is about 10%... the rest of the light bounces off the reflector behind it, so THAT is what you need to worry about diffusing. The fact that they're the same, and that the reverse lights in my GTO function better than the ones in the truck should say SOMETHING to you. (what with them being diffused and all, and the truck's not being diffused?) And I can GUARANTEE you that its easier to see out the back of the truck, so lets not try any arguments based on that either, mk punkin?

The reverse and and turn signal housing in those GTO lights are IDENTICAL so what exactly is your point? There is a diffuser right over the end of the bulb, wether in the reverse or turn and what exactly do you think its purpose is? Its to reduce GLARE....

An these lights your posting pictures of have nothing to do with a GMT400.

:D - So no one thinks I'm angry....
