The valve seals in my '88 350 were shot. The engine puffed blue smoke on cold start-up. I decided to pull the heads and replace the seals.

The valves are all straight and the guides do not have significant play. I mic'd 'em and they appear to be ok. Some of the intake valves appear to have a shallow groove at valve seating surface.

Will lapping the valves create enough of a seal on the valves or should they be replaced?

It's not a question of cost. Replacement valves are $2-4 each.

Wondering what others have done......

Thanks
Eric

You could have changed the seals with the heads on the truck but it is a little late now. If you are going to replace the valves the seats should be cut and if the intake need done then more than likely the exhausts will also need done. Take the heads to a shop and have them done since you have them off, it will be money well spent.
