Well I just picked this up last week, it's a 91 with a 94 front end swap. It's got 280k on the body, and is in darn good shape for a 19 year old northern truck with that mileage. The motor and trans were rebuilt at 230k. I need to find a box for it before winter, but here it is as it sits right now. I picked it up for only $800, which with a rebuilt motor, trans, and all new brakes, is pretty cheap for a 4 wheel drive up here, especially coming up on Winter.

Thats my GP GTX hiding in the background, getting parked for winter as its about 450 flywheel hp and not fun in snow.

Got start asking around about a few things, but I might as well ask one here. Did they really make 2500 short boxes? Or did someone just put on those door moldings? BTW it's a 5.7L, I assume L05, but I don't think it's the factory one as the wiring harness has no plastic coverings on any of it, so it might not me a L05. And it has a 700R4. Also, will any box from 88 to 98 fit on this as long as it's a short box? And if so, are all the 88 - 98 boxes the same lines wise, or are their differences in some years?

I doubt it being a 2500ld, it's 6 lug and 4x4, 4x4 was 6 lug, and they hd 4x4 had the 8 lug setup. As for hd and stuff all I know is 2wd had 5 lug and 3/4 ton 2wd had 6 lug. The 3/4 ton 4x4's I thought were all 8 lug but maybe not, i aint sure. I'd think it's just a plane jane old k1500. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, it's all confusing to me.

I notice a 3 inch body lift on it, but you got a bed or have to find one? what happened to the one that was on it? Looks kinda long to me, like maybe it's long bed? I'd slap a tape measure on it from the back of the cab to the end of the frame see if it's closer to 6 and a half feet or 8 feet.

Well looking at the Vin says it is a true 2500 with a build date of Feb 20th 91. And yep it has a 3" body lift right now, probably going to 2" suspension lift it next year and put 37's on and coat the frame with some POR-15. No box, the guy before me had some crazy plan on turning it into an extended cab, then realized he couldn't do it, but had already junked the box, or something. I got some money, got to start looking for a box for it to get some weight back there.

Also I'm not sure how to tell what options my truck has, there is a big long list of things, and every single one of them is checked. Do I have to uncheck items it doesn't have, or does it mean it has all of those?

hmm I thought the only ld was the 3/4 ton 2wd which was 6 lug, I know 1/2 ton 4x4 have 6 lug, mine does, all of them do as far as I know but I thought 3/4 4x4 was only 8 lug? lol I have no clue.

I didn't know that.

Like I said I was thinking they only had 1/2 ton 4x4 6 lug and 3/4 ton 4x4 with 8 lug, then 2wd 5 lug and 2wd 3/4 ton 6 lug and I thought 8 lug too. I really wasn't completely sure on 4x4.

So I guess it's like this...

2wd - 1/2ton 5 lug, 3/4 ton 6 lug LD, 3/4 ton HD 8 lug

4x4 - 1/2 ton 6 lug, 3/4 ton LD same as 1/2 ton 6 lug, HD 3/4 8 lug.

So whats the different between say my 2500"LD" and a 1500? Or difference from a 2500HD?

Yours is the same as a 1500hd, some 1/2 tons were "heavy half tons" came with the big f44 brakes and 14bolt rear, 6 lug. The 2500hd 8 lug steps up to the bigger frame and heavier duty front end components. This is how it was explained to me, someone correct me if im wrong.

On the Comp nine site, yes everything that comes up you have. The checking thing is just if you want to compare specific options to see the rarity.

as I said 2500hd is 8 lug and 1500 is half ton so in a 4x4 it'd be six lug, just like the 2500ld but in a 2wd the 2500 would be 6 lug ld instead of 1500 reg. 2wd 5 lug. 2wd 2500hd is 8 lug just like a 4x4 8 lug would be if it was 2500hd as far as I know.
