I've drove two '88 RCLB's with the 5.0L NV3500 combo and they leave a lot to be desired. Once you get it running good, what are you planning on doing?

Yes, they leave a LOT to be desired.. this thing is pretty pathetic taking off from a dig.
350 TBI w/ NV4500 would be great. I would love to have this truck for my entire life time.. so I have been kicking around the possibility of doing an LSx swap. I wouldn't be doing much of it that's fer sure.
Once I get it running good.. it'll stay as is for a while. Until some coin builds up in the bank, I have been thinking of going up North to the oil patch.. LS would be happening asap if I did.

285's and a tired 305 aren't the greatest combo, take off power and mpg would benefit from the right gearing. What does it have now, 3.42's or 3.73's, etc?

3.73s. Havent had a chance to check compression but I'm almost certain it's low in more than one cylinder.. she's gettin' up there in age.
