Hello there,

I figured that I would introduce myself before I start chomping at the bit about how to fix all of my "new" trucks's problems.

I am a complete newbie to trucks. I just bought an 88 GMC Sierra 2wd from my neighbor. It was sort of an impulsive thing which is a bit odd for me. We were dumping my other neighbors trash at the local landfill together because he was injured and he mentioned that he was selling the truck.

I figured since I knew him and was tired of using my Chrysler Town and Country with cargo carrier to drop off trash I would take the plunge.

Don't know what kind of deal I got, but vehicles are more expensive in my area (DC exurb in VA).

I paid $800 bucks for it and feel that I did ok based upon what I see on Craigslist. 4wd seems to be more than double that around here and any 2wd for the price I got this one for has a blown motor.

All in all it serves its purpose.

So here is a little bit more about my vehicle and other vehicles:

88 Sierra 2wd:

Intent: Drive the vehicle back and forth to the landfill (one mile away) or to Lowes to pick stuff up when needed.

Bad:

Brakes are spongy but still stop. I won't drive it like this even though my neighbor did. It looks like the rear cylinder is leaking from what I see on the inside of the tire.

Paint is faded....just what I want...have enough vehicles and the fewer I have to wash the better as I get older.

A/C and heater don't work. Blower motor works. Just fine with me for short trips.

Passenger side lock doesn't work.

No key to open the doors.

Bad valve seals I believe (smokes blue for a second when I start it up).

Looks like someone ate a somewhat large chunk from the bench seat on the driver's side. :uhoh2:

Broken Tailight

Good:

Starts right up.

Nice aftermarket exhaust system

Lifted a little bit (I know nothing about that hope I am using the right term)

Nice toolbox

Nice backup lights (not sure if I am calling it the right thing)

Baja Driving lights with covers.

Other Cars:

91 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 (AWD Turbo) Dedicated Winter and Summer Rims and Tires

04 Subaru Forester (AWD Turbo) Dedicated Winter and Summer Rims and Tires

93 Escort GT (DD)
