Adding another GMT400 to my collection

Nice truck man, that thing looks really clean. Why did the 6.5 get such a bad rep, I know it cant touch modern diesels for power but a buddy of mines Dad has a 96 with over 500,000Km with the original 6.5 with no probs. Is it really that underpowered or unreliable??

I know I want another truck with a 6.5. They have their shortcomings but there are solutions to most common problems.

everything I have seen they are pretty solid if you make a few minor mods like moving the injector pump thingy to a cooler location.

They mostly have a bad rep for the PMD (pump mounted driver) as they overheat easily in the stock location and fail. If it fails, the truck doesn't run. Otherwise they are a soild rig if cared for.

And yes, i'm swapping mirrors off my 88 onto this. It needs the towing mirrors.
