I am in the 9th week of waiting for the 454 Long Block from Powertrain. No news. I don't understand it, either the economy is so strong and incredible that there is no supply and everything is sold out or the economy is soft and the lack of products is affecting everything??? So, either everything is great and they are sold out of engines, or there are no engines because there are no parts??? Either way, I am waiting over 2 months for a friggin' engine that has been around like 50 years??? And GM is going to drop the crate LS?
PS, I am looking for this type of shell for the LB CCD

Covid has ****** our suppliers bad, thus the wait. We have some parts that are sitting at a 60-70k part backorder if not more. We are dropping the LS7, yes. But in favor of other things.

POWERTRAIN PRODUCTS sent me TRACKING e-mail for the 454 big block long block replacement motor for the PROJECT BEAST - no that is too much of a name for this project, lets think of a better name.... The estimated delivery date is FEB 23, 2022!!!! This is just to let you know that I will document the install myself and take a lot of new pics of this project! No more waiting for pics to be sent to me - I m taking them myself. I bought a used dash assembly to put a double DIN video player in the dash. Then I found this black one on EBay - has anyone used this aftermarket piece? Looks kinda cheesy - weak plastic???

Here are the adapters for the American Force wheels. The 8 lug to 10 lug switch uses these iron cast adapters with the mounting holes for the 8 lug "baby" lugs and the "big boy" 10 lugs. These things are heavy. Prior builder left these installed for mockup outside in the rain and weather - ****** me off. Whatever. I have some other pics to post - will get to the parts list later, just a lot of random pieces that I have been putting together for the re-build. Some people say restoring or fixing up a square body or OBS is just bolting parts together. That is true. But that goes for every restoration. Unless you are doing a complete fabrication with all custom parts, it is part of the process. I am tired of the full custom route right now. I just want a cool ride that will run as good as a "new" vehicle and at a reasonable cost that I can get done mostly by myself. And the fact that it will hold my whole family, have good working air and can haul some weight - that is GREAT!!!

Like I said, I am going to post some of the random parts I have been putting together - but I also bought a couple of rear axle assemblies this weekend - both from late model GMs, one was an SUV (the HD thick disks and big ass calipers, supposed to have 3.73 gears and a 1500 p/u with the thinner disks. I gotta look at all the perches and crap on the heavy duty setup, but these will be cleaned up and stripped of the perches so that I can build some 4 linked and aired out custom chassis projects. I was talking to Michigan Metal Works and I want to know if anyone has built a project based on the newer spindles and rear disk brake setup. I mean, if we are going to go "new tech" why not just upgrade the suspension components over to the 6 lug? Especially if it is going to be a new motor, LS swap and tranny, why not upgrade to the disk brakes and new front spindles and A Arms, etc.? IDEAS?? RISKS?? MAJOR CONCERNS??

Parts is parts. The radiator looks decent, since the motor is being replaced, might as well put a new cooling system in. Will replace water pump as well. Shocks are the Belltech that they sent me because I had 4 front shocks in my 717SP drop kit. The grille is a 31 tooth aluminum billet from EBay - actually looks really good and I made an offer of $90, which they accepted. I like the EBay make offer with businesses because you never know what they will take, but you usually get an extra 5 or 10% off, so it is like getting no sales tax for me. I always wanted one of these grilles!! My first NEW car was a 1992 GMC extended cab step side p/u, with Boyd Coddington wheels. I wanted the billet grille but it was like $300 back in 1993!! My dream was to turn it into a PHANTON DUALLY by putting a new bed with dually fenders and some huge deep dish super singles. The light kit replacing all of the front lights with a "smoked" kit seems kind of chep. Another EBay special. Looks cool, super smooth and nice chrome and smoked features, but the plastic is thin and I bet I could twist these lights apart. I will try them out, but they seem "el cheapo"
