Dielectric means it prevents electricity from flowing. It's a synonym of insulation.

How to find Overhead console holes in an Ext cab pickup

Hold the console against the roof as shown in my pic (or any other) and start cutting forward of its rear lip. Or just measure on the JY truck you pull the OHC out of.

weird electrical w/ gauges and turn signals

Instead of using that white lithium grease that GM put in there, or common silicone (dielectric), consider using actual electrical grease.

How to find Overhead console holes in an Ext cab pickup

Then you should just put the hooks into the holes, lift the console hard to compress the headliner, slide the console back to align the front screw hole, and put the screw in.

    Switch for power door locks

You need the wiring diagram for the Viper module. If it has simple Lock/Unlock inputs, wire the switch kit to those. If not, you'll have to wire in a power switch (at least 4 terminals, up to 6; OR two switches with 3 terminals each) to drive the actuators.

    Aiming 94 composite headlights

Find a large flat parking lot with light-colored pavement and straight lines, or a similar abandoned road where you can park with the truck centered on the line and know that it's in-line. Then start adjusting - you'll find out in a few twists which direction is which. When you think it's...

How to find Overhead console holes in an Ext cab pickup

Look across the top of the console when it's NOT installed, and see if there's anything close to protruding above the edges. If there is, you'll need to cut away the headliner in those areas to make room. IIRC, the sunglass tray needs some headspace.

Full Replacement Rear Bumper Pics Please Help!

For the same reasons that people weren't satisfied with Karl Benz's first attempt at a "car", and had to reinvent it for the past century, each part is subject the same thing. Just because something works, that doesn't mean it works the BEST for everyone. Common bolt-on hitches are designed to...

    Swapable alternators?

Well, there's ONE small advantage to having a 6.5L - it's easy to add an alt! ;) But unless you plan to drive around all day with the volume cranked, you'd probably get more benefit from a 2nd battery than from more alternator.

Full Replacement Rear Bumper Pics Please Help!

I've never heard that. In fact, Ford provides online instructions for how to weld to the frame. No way they'd do that if it was illegal. https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/topics/bodybuild.html I'm not saying it's a good idea for a bumper, but frame welding is legal.

    Winches

Look at wreckers; not the little dinky 30-y.o. POSs, but the professionals. RAMSEY worm-drive. I tried a Warn xD9000i for a few years on my Bronco, and it failed to pull me out EVERY time I needed it. (No, not because I don't know how to use one; because when I get stuck enough to need a winch...

    Rewiring stock horn

Have you looked up this wiring at the link in Alouicious's thread in the wiring diagrams subforum? IDK if he has '95, but he probably has a year whose horn wiring is at least similar. ... Looks like his truck diagrams don't include the horn, but the Yukon set does...

    1994 K1500 7 pole wiring issues

Be sure to USE A FUSE or circuit breaker at the battery to protect the truck wiring from the trailer batteries. Trailer batteries are frequently dead, and a dead battery can draw a lot of amps at first. You can probably find an unused fuse position in the factory block, add a terminal (or 2)...

    rear lights harness info needed

Either tape up the bad spots with wiring harness tape (very different from common PVC electrical tape), or use liquid electric tape (basically rubber cement), or cut out the bad spots & splice in new wire. If you need pigtail connectors, try the dealer or any parts store. You might be...

    Headlights on with key

That wiring diagram doesn't show any connection to the dome circuit, but adding a relay to flash the markers would be pretty easy. Using a NON-diode-suppressed Bosch/ISO/Tyco relay: Pins 85 & 86: Tan & Gray wires for the driver's lock motor (either polarity) Pin 87: Brown parking light wire Pin...

dual display rear view mirrors. COMPASS/TEMPERATURE several sets! with pigtails

Thanks. If I can't find the "right" module, I'll use a Ford one. It's very compact, self-contained (internal sensor), and only has 5 wires, but it's as reliable as any OE and I'm familiar with it. So I'd rather use that than aftermarket junk.

    Headlights on with key

1/2 Are you saying that's where the S-10 sensor is? The wiring diagram says the module in a C/K/Hoe/Burb shares the sensor in the RV mirror. What it DOESN'T show is a way to turn off the system. Is it like DRLs - kick the e-brake?

random trailer stuff, builds, ideas, discussion.

I used to be in construction (over a decade ago), and I salvaged a bunch of 4x6 Al I-beams & 2.5" sq. posts from a job just because I couldn't bear scrapping them. After ~10 years & 2 moves, I got tired of looking at them, so I pulled a Caravan rear suspension from a JY and started cutting... I...

dual display rear view mirrors. COMPASS/TEMPERATURE several sets! with pigtails

Have you ever seen one of these mirrors with 2 connectors? A 7-pin (dunno the shape) and another with at least 2 positions, but only 1 small Y/Bk wire? From what I can tell, it was only used from '99-? in trucks with "luxury" automatic headlights (not DRL). I have a small collection of these...
