Stand on your head, look straight up from accelerator pedal. It is behind a metal bracket if memory serves, it's a PITA to get to.

Yes, one bulb/socket is for backlighting when dash lights are on, the second show's when 4wd has engaged by lighting up another portion of the shifter bezel.

Bought a CC Dually 454 Whipple

When you have a minute research the forging process. Cast = molten metal poured into a mold. Forged = a very nearly molten piece of metal is placed in a form mold and a very large hammer with another mold on it's face strikes it. Forged is beaten into shape, it is a very strong manufacturing...

Neat. I was referring to -400/-800 as those were the platforms mentioned.

There is no such thing as automatic high beams. The only thing that some rearview mirrors have that is related to headlights is the electrochromatic function. When some jackass comes up behind you with high beams on, or cheap **** ebay/amazon lights with a bunch of glare, the mirror will dim...

    GMT400 frame styles

Weird, they still work fine for me. As I said in my post those are from the GM Upfitter guides. HD frame specs for GMT-800 2500HD/3500 pickups as compared to 1500. If I posted Medium Duty I would label it as such, but that wasn't relevant to this post.

    Pop-up bed pocket anchor build.

You realize that is a fully awarded patent number? Nothing Pending about it. Google it, expired in 2007, can find someone to copy it now. :waytogo:

    What have you towed lately

This was a few weeks ago, but helped a co-worker with some yard work. He rented the mini & dump, I provided the flatbread.

Probably not chrome, more likely stainless steel. My flatbed has them as well.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

The shock mounting wasn't terribly difficult to overcome, just that the points on each LCA were the shock mounts are in different locations. Turning radius sucks dick. Not in a good way.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

Post #83 in this thread has one done and I've done it as well. Earlier in this thread: https://www.gmt400.com/threads/nbs-front-brake-swap-for-obs-trucks.17805/page-5#post-750006 If I had it to do over again I would swap to the GMT-800 LCAs and work out the shock mounting adjustment. I think...

Were the brakes bled with a bi-directional scan tool? The proper way to bleed the ABS involves cycling it electronically.

    Steering knuckle lift

Short answer, no. Lift knuckles/spindles do not exist for GMT400 as they do for GMT800+, there are funky add-on pieces to sort of make a lift knuckles out of the stock unit. Longer answer, it might be possible: What you would need to do is perform the GMT800 brake upgrade, as discussed here...

Spyder headlamps.....my take on 'em...and LIGHTING in general

If there was anything to be gleaned from this thread and others: DO NOT drop HID bulbs into housings not meant for them eg: a projector designed/engineered for them. The same goes for 99.9% of the LED replacement bulbs, there are a very select few that are designed to produce light at the same...

1996 GMC K3500 DRW, Extended Cab, Flatbed, 454, NV-4500... DAILY DRIVER

I used GMT800 CVs on my swap, they bolted onto the output flanges of the front diff just like the GMT400 ones did and they, of course, fit the GMT800 wheel bearing at the knuckle. Somewhere I'd read that the GMT800 ABS system has the same pulse/rotation as the GMT400, so no issues there...
