    Fitting an intercooler

Manual trans so trans cooler is no concern. PS cooler I picked up a universal one that I'm gonna build a little bracket for in front of the IC, looks like I'll have eboogh space being the grille for it if I mount it over by the hood latch support

    Fitting an intercooler

I've never once owned a vehicle with functional ac haha. I also live way up CT where it don't get terribly hot most of the year. I do plan to hook it up in the spring though, for now I just need this thing on the road for the winter

    Fitting an intercooler

Here's the rest of the pics Lost the spot for the power steering cooler though, so i ordered one that wasn't bent and beaten and will be mounting it in the space below the grille on top of that crossmember for the front spring hangers. I know the first gen setup isn't as efficient as the second...

    Fitting an intercooler

Alright well the first gen setup is a huge success fitment wise. Radiator clears but barely. I had to cut the humps off the bottom of the rad support and weld in a flat plate. Clears the hood by less than an inch. Used the stock Chevy rad mount spots and built my own brackets to adapt to the...

    Fitting an intercooler

I see you did it much like the previous owner of my truck had tried. Problem is they'd used a cheap cooler and hacked at the core support pretty poorly so I patched it all back up. In gonna try the first gen cooling stack and see wjat I get for results. Picked up the ic from a buddy today and...

    Fitting an intercooler

It would be a stand alone system. You can buy them from many places, siliconeintakes.com for example. However, I got a good deal on an aluminum rad for a first gen dodge and a good used intercooler as well, so I'm gonna try those out first. I know the intercooler will fit, and it looks like if I...

    Fitting an intercooler

Ah yes that was likely an industrial engine, they had the air to water after coolers. They work but they're not super effective, and theyre tall. The aftermarket setups work far better and can be moved anywhere being that they're not part of the intake manifold like th aftercoolers are

    Fitting an intercooler

Looks like you've got quote an impressive build list behind ya. I usually prefer my squarebodies, lots more room to work and throw **** in there lol. I've been considering air to water intercooling on this truck as well, it's very efficient and the water cooler up front is like mounting a big...

    Fitting an intercooler

Ahhh, hm this is gonna be more of a ***** than I'd hoped. It's a shame the grille is so short top to bottom, a first gen IC fits with plenty of space on each side, but the rad ends up being narrower and as such taller, and I'd be slamming my hood on it haha. Looks like it's back to the drawing...

    Fitting an intercooler

I see so you cut the rad support in to fit the rad as far forward and to both sides. I figured I'd have to do that. What a tight ass fit this all is. Definitely that last time I'll be doing one of these swaps haha

    Fitting an intercooler

My ecm is also long gone as I didn't need it for anything, plus on the 6.5 that sits inside under the dash instead of on the fenderwell like your truck. I used that space to mount my FSS solenoids and the relay harness for my Airdog pump

    Fitting an intercooler

Guy before me already tossed the abs pump so I hooked in a proportioning valve out of an 80s k30. I am definitely not going without a wash tank haha that would suck bad. I could make one up to fit on the fender but the stock one is such an easier fit. As for the light bracket cuts, I assume that...

    Fitting an intercooler

I heard about the single headlight swap before to gain more clearance, and I did consider it but man I really like the quad headlight design and will gladly go thru a little extra hell to keep it if I can. I can get a second gen rad and intercooler for about 175$ used right now, I guess I'll get...

    Fitting an intercooler

Interesting, so the 2nd gen cooler will actually fit huh? I already figured out spacing the lower part of the hood brace bar thing. My concern was the battery trays, I've only got about 42 1/2" at the bottom of the rad support between the uprights. I'd have no problem hackin em and rebuilding...

    Fitting an intercooler

Alright, I know some of you have done it but I've searched and searched both here and elsewhere and can't find much on how. I'm most of the way done thru slapping a 12 valve in this thing The things in there and I have all the wiring worked out etc. However, the intercooler is giving me some...

    Ecm delete possible?

Yep my truck is setup with that, I don't believe the Cummins has a gm alternator swap tho so I'll have to look into it and see what's on there

    Ecm delete possible?

I suppose it would be cool but I have no interest in extra complications, cruise control makes me anxious for whatever reason, doesn't feel like I have control of the truck so I never use it

    Ecm delete possible?

Yep I had one years ago, absolutely horrible. I made good progress today, got all the wires I need pulled to one side. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to finish separating the harness and then either bundle it all up or cut of all out

    Ecm delete possible?

Yep I just realized I'm mistaking those for a later truck, the abs module is what's missing from under the hood. Someone took the entire abs system and ripped it out so I will simply be bypassing it

    Ecm delete possible?

Also, I realize I was a little off on the whole basis of this thread. I forgot the gmt400s had two boxes, the one I der the hood on the driver side, the actual ECU. As well as the silver box under the passenger side dash. The ECU on this truck is already gone, the silver box under the dash is...

    Ecm delete possible?

Yessir, diesel is dbw instead of dbc so the cruise was part of the computer as opposed to an external unit that pulled the throttle independently

    Ecm delete possible?

Post. Link to the thread if you don't mind, seeing as I'll be in the same boat after I finish ripping my ecm out

    Ecm delete possible?

Awesome, I knew the vss read from the case but I wasn't sure if it was routed thru the ecm to the gauge or not. I'm gonna start on the wiring right now and see how far I can get
  24. 35hunnit

    Ecm delete possible?

I'd rather just toss the entire ecm if possible. I've never owned a truck with AC so getting that fixed is far from my top priority, as well as the fact that it's now almost October so I have all winter to figure out how to make the ac work. Cruise I don't care about either, to be honest I'm not...

    Ecm delete possible?

Sounds like I lucked out then. I intended to adapt the gm sensors to the Cummins block, and I believe the truck still has the stock tcase so the vss should also be factory functional. Tach will be the only thing, but being a factory 6.5 it pulled tach signal from the alternator right? Should be...
