Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Little angry because I just wrote a decent amount and then refreshed the page and lost everything We just wrapped up sprinkler blowouts for the year. I call it the 5 weeks of hell because it's 5 weeks of sprinklers and driving and listening to an Isuzu diesel rattle away. Walter did great...

'98 Busurban Storm Chase Vehicle Build

Nice to see someone around here with their priorities in order. Excited to see the Outlaws on the burb, I always loved those wheels

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Oh boy it's been a couple of months. I'm not dead and neither is Walter, at least not yet. We haven't been doing to much. We hit a trail the last week of June, went camping in August, ran into the back of a Dodge, and and hit a couple of other trails. Last week of June some friends and I went...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Haven't been doing much with the truck the past week. I graduated from high school at the end of May so the past couple weeks have been a bit crazy. Between working and camping and going to grad parties, I haven't had much time to work on Walter. I did manage a junkyard run, but all I pulled was...

How to install AUX/Bluetooth into a non theftlock radio

I was doing research the other day and found these videos from Jonathan Rader linked to the one on the Adding AUX to OBS Stock Radio thread and I kind of feel like an idiot because he did this mod 6 years before I did. They're pretty good videos and especially useful if you like a better visual...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Got back from camping a couple of days ago but couldn't post because I was busy unpacking and cleaning up Walter and my teardrop. I was a little worried about the transmission, but it was fine. I went with a group of 6 so even if something happened I figured I'd be alright. We went up to Deadman...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Tomorrow I am going camping, which means today I wrapped up a couple of little things so I was ready to go. One of those things was fixing the problem with my shifter. After the shop and pulling the shed it started locking up and not letting me shift out of park. It turns out it was the brake...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

I did man. Right there in the shop. I think that's part of the reason they discounted it so much. They did give me a work order. Most of the stuff was related to the lift kit and the stress that comes with offroading and being an idiot. Some of the prices were a little ridiculous so I called...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Walter is out of the shop, and I am out of money. I got a call from the mechanic Tuesday evening and he basically told me that my front suspension, along with a few other things, was f***ed. I told him to do the things that would keep me alive, and I can handle the rest. He said it would be...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

I got a lot done today, but not much to show for it. I decided to spend my day cleaning out Walter, which was a lot. I didn't actually detail or hose or anything, I just got rid of junk, and ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy was there a lot of junk. I...

Well, it's been a minute. Not much has happened, but I figured I'd update the page. I finally wore down and got a new battery. I realized it was time when I drove to school, then tried to change to parking spots, and the truck wouldn't start. It cost me 220 dollars! Geez batteries have gotten...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Alright, a lot of posts in one day! Sorry about that. To sum up the day's events: We poured 5-6 gallons of bad gas into Walter. On my way to school today it died and I had to pull into a parking lot. I got a jump and limped my way home. I ran the engine for about an hour and it seems to be doing...

Good advice! I am having pretty much the same problem, so I will definitely try that. I let it run for about an hour and it seems alright.

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Hey man better late than never! I am definitely going to replace the battery soon. It's been more of a nuisance than an actual problem so I'm going to hold out a little longer. I did make it home, thanks to a jump and left foot braking. We pretty well figured out that it was the bad gas. I...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Welp. The past week has been full ****. Walter both proved itself as a daily and an offroader, but followed it up by falling apart. Last Thursday was fun. My friend decided to take his '02 F-350 CCLB with a 7.3 and bald tires offroading. In the rain. In one of the muddiest places that you can...

Man, I would love to find one for that price! I can't seem to find one for less than 250, new or used. I'm probably going to end up with the summit one when all of this is over.

Early on I did consider only having an external amp with pre-outs leading to it, but I thought that having an internal amp hooked to the standard connections would make it easier to install into the truck, and if I didn't like it then I could just go back to a stock radio. Making pre-outs would...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Not much has happened with Walter in the past few days. I know I said I would replace the ABS sensor this weekend, but I ended up not doing that. Instead, I worked a lot. I worked on the radio I've been developing in my free time. I'm just trying to get it to the point where I can put it in the...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Thanks, man! I'll definitely post more about it then! Yeah, it being a 95 has sort of made it tough to do anything, at least not without jumping through a few hoops first. I appreciate the compliment! I've done my best to keep it looking stock-ish while still doing what I want with it. Very...

Walter, an okay daily and an okay offroader

Well, I got two things checked off the to-do list last weekend. I didn't mention them earlier because I was too excited about the Tachograph and I forgot. I was going to snap a couple of pictures, but it really wasn't all that interesting. I replaced the wiper fluid pump, it was way easier than...

I would guess so. The only thing left from the truck I pulled it from was the cab, so it was pretty tough to get an idea of the year. They did produce them until deregulation, So that's about a 7 year period of when the truck was built

So I learned some things about the clock/speedo. It is Stemco-Sangamo Tachograph. I'm not sure how Stemco is involved, but from what I found Sangamo produced these, or units like these, between the 40s and 80s. They put these in everything from buses, to tow trucks, to semis. It is almost...

It took two and a half years, but by God I found it. The holy grail of GMT400 interior parts. That's right ladies and gentlemen, I found the fog light switch! Along with it came the rear hatch switch, and the rear windshield wiper switch. I'm really hoping I'll find another, but I doubt it. I...

Oh, gotcha. I will definitely keep that in mind when I begin working on it. I still have a few things to figure out and more than a few projects to wrap up before I start.

What do you mean by deflector shield? When I look it up all I get is bug shields, and I doubt that's what you're talking about. Thanks! Once I figured out what to look for it was pretty easy to find them. Summit has them for 400 dollars, but I know you can find them cheaper.
