Bugger that did help :( that is exactly the problem. Boy is an actuator a much easier swap to fix lol. We don't always get lucky with the way fixes. Going ice fishing tomorrow, I'll have to rip it apart in the evening Thank you very much, I googled and googled and didn't see that post.- Chris Lee

Worth upgrading to GMT800?
Honestly 3500lb isn't much at all, and you already own the truck. I don't see any reason to upgrade. The amount you'll be paying to upgrade would by a lifetime of fuel if you only drive your truck as little as you say. 120k miles is nothing on a 5.7L you can easily double that I bet with... -
how to build rock tamers
Looks good to me ! Im going to be building a set as well, I picked up some cheap mud flaps from princess auto and have some surplus galvanized angle iron. It'll be better then nothing on the gravel roads when towing the boat. -
What GMT400 parts are unobtainable in 2019?
I think all the surplus NIB 6.5 & 6.2 blocks are all gone :( even when the surplus ones were still available they were astronomically priced compared to 350/454 blocks. A motor I'm very fond of but I understand many people are not fond of lol.- Chris Lee

Best alternator upgrade ?
I think it depends on what truck you're putting it on. My 94 6.5 uses a serpentine belt so the belt was the same. the 6.5 uses a different size pulley so I had to swap my old pulley onto the ad244. diesels get their rpm signal from the alternator, so wrong sized pulley and your tach is off...- Chris Lee

Wow NAPA is out to lunch on that pricing imo I bought a REMY 91653 (AD244) from Rockauto for $147 Canadian! Great alternator btw. way better then the CS130 my truck had before- Chris Lee

Best upgrades for me were - AD244 upgrade from CS130, I never ever had 13v at idle before the upgrade. Now with lights all on and fan on high I still have 13v - XJ steering upgrade (replace rag joint) the steering is no nice and responsive now. - reprogramming my 94 gm 6.5 ecm. XJ Steering Shaft Upgrade (88-94 Trucks) 95+instructions on page 31
Not sure if the eBay seller sold me the wrong product or not. I ordered a 88-96 Jeep Cherokee XJ steering shaft. It came and looked brand new. But was 24" long fully compressed.
