98 5.7L vortec bad motor questions

Okay I got a dumb question but I guess the tittle entails this. Online I’m seeing two different 5.7L 350s made by goodwrench. One says “VIN R” does that mean I have have to get this specific model to be compatable with my vin R truck? Or are they practically the same?

Thanks for all the replies guys, your help means a lot. I’ve looked deeper into it and I think you guys are right. I’m just going to get another 350 and maybe get a 4l80e as well? I figured it’d be able to better handle if I mod the 350 or get a 6.0 down the road. All that would be required is...

Yeah Im hoping to find a wreaked one or just a complete pullout around 100-130k. If I can’t do that I’ll just order a new 5.7L I guess. If anyone has experience with LS swaps I’d love to hear your opinion. Especially in regards to rewiring the harness. I know you can get the standalone computer...

Hey, thanks for the reply, I actually just got a loan from a family member so I now have $4500. Does this make it a more viable option? I’m just torn because I don’t want to put money into rebuilt 350 if it’s going to break again soon but I don’t how much more it’d take to do the lsx swap right.
