    Total electric power loss, intermitent

Still worried about that alternator wire though, how could a 100amp alternator only use a 12 gauge wire? I replaced it with a 10 gauge, but that looks small too. How can that wire carry 100amps?

    Total electric power loss, intermitent

Replacing the lock cylinder fixed the problem, which is nice, now I actually need a key to start my truck! I also added two power posts, these turn my starter wire into a two piece. Now I can change the starter without having to hang it off the wires, just connect the starter wires, then feed...

    Total electric power loss, intermitent

I replaced mine with about 4" of fusible link wire(14g), about the same as what was there. Unfortunately, after erroneously replacing my ignition switch, it now wont engage the starter. I know its adjustable, but sliding it all the way back still doesnt engage the starter. My lock cylinder needs...

    Total electric power loss, intermitent

No aftermarket accesories yet, all stock. When I bought the truck, It was wired for a sound system, with a huge 4 gauge-ish fused wire going to the back where he had a sub. I removed the fuse and disconnected the wire years ago. The fusible link wire is heavily corroded, as is the alternator...

    Total electric power loss, intermitent

Ok, so I removed the burned wire, I have a few more questions before I put this all back together. The wire going from the battery to the firewall posts is a pretty large gauge, except for a few inches on the battery end, which is the burned part. The burned wire is a smaller gauge section, but...

    Total electric power loss, intermitent

So, im an idiot. Started tracing my fusible link back, Its fried and broken. I didn't see it at first due to the new wire conduit I had placed over it a couple years ago. Wish I had seen that before I replaced the ignition switch, but at least I have a new one of those I guess. Can I replace...

    Total electric power loss, intermitent

On the way home from work yesterday, just got off the freeway, and had an instant loss of electric power, only lasted half a second, then ran normal. I turned into a parking lot and and it happend again, then back to normal. As I pulled into a parking space, it happend again, this time killing...

    School me on relays

This is interesting, could I possibly just use a radiator, fan, and fan shroud from a 6.5? I know it was an engine option for my Yukon. I can keep the AC blowing cold if I go to neutral and throttle to 1000rpms. I put a hydra chip on my powerstroke that allows me to set a higher idle, does...

    School me on relays

Wow, thanks for all the responses everyone, special thanks to TechNova for the knowledge bomb. My goal is to operate the fans only when the AC is on, and the switch is flipped on. So from what I think I understand here, without a diode between the switch and the relay, power will feedback...

    School me on relays

I was more wondering why those exact numbers. What signifigance does 87 have, why not 92, or 36, etc.

    School me on relays

These are some ive been looking at, I could probably fit up to 10 inch fans, but ive been looking at 7-9 inch. Most seem to list ridiculously high cfm's. Since im not sure how much this will actually help my AC, im leaning towards the cheap fans.

    School me on relays

Do I need two relays? Edit; thanks for laying out what each number means on the relay, why #85, 86, 30, 87.

    School me on relays

I think I get it. Power from AC compressor to dash switch to relay. And fuse between battery and relay instead of after relay.

    School me on relays

Thats exactly what i want, only when the AC is running. I want to turn them off at speed as well, hence the switch.

    School me on relays

These fans are in addition to the clutch fan, the electric fans will only be used as needed, and only when the AC compressor is running. Dont understand why i would need 3 relays, what am I missing here?

    School me on relays

I going to test some "helper" fans for my AC, get some more idle performance, just not sure what type of relay I need for this setup. I'd like to have the fans come on only when the AC is running and I have a dash switch activated. So I suppose I need a relay with two inputs, If thats the...

    Engine replacement/rebuild recommendations

Lol, thats great, but the collector car insurance isnt going to work for me. I hate going through emissions, but this is my DD, dont want to chance getting my policy cancelled and also having a vehicle that cant pass emissions.

Every year, this is Pima county afterall. Last i checked, the collector car insurance and historic plate limits mileage to 15k a year, I do more like 20k.

I was looking at that Blueprint, it does say "not for pollution controlled vehicles". I have to do emissions every year.

    Engine replacement/rebuild recommendations

If you are talking about the GM Goodwrench motor, thats almost $4600. I dont think they make a 2 bolt replacement anymore. https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/parts/19432778.html I also dont care about 2 or 4 bolt, the stock motor served well.

    Engine replacement/rebuild recommendations

These are all the things that worry me about an online motor, many of these online builders offer to good to be true warrenties(one claimed 7 year/100000 mile for a $1500 motor). I do have a certified mechanic buddy that could "be the installer" if anything is wrong with the motor, I also have...

    Engine replacement/rebuild recommendations

No spider, its a TBI. Just the two injectors in the throttle body, I believe the spider is for the later vortec 5.7 edit; Seriously, Ive tried all the usual misfire stuff, gave it the good ole parts cannon. Its an issue with that one cylinder, dirty valve or bad rings im thinking.

    Engine replacement/rebuild recommendations

Ive been trying to chase down the source of a misfire on my 94' Yukon for a year, and its driving me crazy. Im probably going to take the drive of shame to a shop to figure it out, but at 250,000 miles, its probably time for a new motor. Ive basically ruled out anything simple as the cause of...
