    Ignorance is Bliss.

Been a few days; time to address the latest issue. Took her out last weekend and got lost on some BLM; ended up a pretty rough 7 hours lol. That said, she faired the trip very well! But now it's time to replace some u-joints on the drive line. I noticed some slight vibration through the...

Got lost on some BLM trails yesterday, was the first time she'd been put to the test. I was rather pleased!

Great news! I just discovered I do indeed already have the NV4500 transmission! Big relief for sure! She's got the side plates for PTO access, and she's rock solid! Pictures of angles for full view of cosmetic upgrades. And just because I think these shots are bitchin. I'll be uploading a...

Unfortunately I do not have any kind of air compressor. 2018 brought a lot of things into my life; i.e. our first house, marriage, baby girl, ect. so I havent yet began to accumulate shop equipment much beyond basic tools. I detailed for Harley Davidson, and for Freightliner once upon a time...

Cab/moon/sport/sun visor (everyone seems to call it something different) before/after.... I'd waited a long time for one of these and a local buddy that works at a salvage yard tracked this one down for me. It's a Lund model. You can tell it's been around a while as the paint's clear coat had...

Finally got !y hands on a cab visor. Got her all sanded up and ready to prime and paint. I'll end up sanding and painting the roof of the cab as well, since it's the only part of the truck suffering from any form of cancer.

my little clasp fix actually made more noise than before, so I ended up using some gasket maker goop around the hole then clamped down directly around it. Had to trim up the cover a bit, but I think it got rid of the sound haha.

Yessir, originally I had thought I had the 4L60E because that's all Google would show me when I would search for information pertaining to what I had. Apparently not even google doesn't know how to drive a standard ;). I was recently educated on the differences of the NV3500-NV4500...

Found an exhaust leak. Didn't want to spend the money on something I could fix myself. repurposed the paint can I'd used on the tailgate and rims lol. Good 'nuff for Gooberment work

    Ignorance is Bliss.

It's about 6-8 inches after my glass pack (also ancient). After painting up my rims today (see build thread for update), I decided to utilize the can to fix the exhaust leak. I cut both ends off the can and cut it down the middle so I could wrap it around the exhaust and hose clamp it down...

I got my new Gabriel Ultra Shocks on yesterday. Lucky me, I had to buy some deep well sockets, and they were 50% off lol so that was cool. Got that done yesterday afternoon. My 8 year old decided today that I "should paint my rims black, the same way I did the tail gate"... And after a fraction...

    Ignorance is Bliss.

So the shocks showed up yesterday. Glad they did too. Located my exhaust leak lol. One of the exhaust support brackets rotted entirely around the weld, so there's a huge hole gaping where the support used to be. I don't know how to weld, but my buddy's got a welder here :boxing:. Ok, so I'm not...

You lost me there bro lol, they actually put automatic controls on a standard transmission pickup? Whaaaaaaaaat? I thought a 5 speed was a 5 speed haha.

    Ignorance is Bliss.

I was under the impression an NV4500 swap was a plug and play sort of deal? Do you have a reference to conversion parts that would be needed to put one into my 94' Silverado? My understanding of this plug and play mentioned something about how it would just bolt right up lol. So I admit...

    Ignorance is Bliss.

I appreciate you sharing your personal experience with the product =); and it's been duly noted that eyeballs and PB blaster don't play nice together haha. On a side note, I met a feller that works at a salvage yard; says he can hook me up with an NV4500. To be continued.....

Thanks for the suggestions fells. While we're on the topic of shocks; does anyone have any experience with Gabriel Ultras? A good friend of mine works at AutoZone and says they're the best shocks they sell, but he was telling me to go with Bilsteins. That said, these Gabriel Ultras are being...

    Ignorance is Bliss.

Got word my Gabriel Ultra Shocks will be in by Friday at the latest. At first glance it all seems pretty simple; pull the bolts, remove old, install new, bam done! But, if ya'll got any tips or suggestions, I'm all ears! er, eyes, er whatever. I've never changed shocks before o_O
