    Drum to Disc Conversion

Problem Solved. I traded my K1500 on a Siverado 2500. I really liked my old truck. This is nicer for the most part, but higher in milage. Much nicer looking than my old one. I'm going to get rid of the cap. New Truck by Tony Lino posted Mar 6, 2016 at 9:38 AM

    Drum to Disc Conversion

OK. The calipers for the 1998 K2500 with six lugs are the same as the K1500. Same part number. The K2500 with 8 lugs has a different size caliper with a larger piston. That means to use the larger caliper, the knuckles must be changed. The JB5 drum is 10". the JB6 has 11.1" drums and the JB7...

Can the rear drums be upgraded from JB5 to JB7 (13") without changing the axel and if so, will 16" wheels fit that drum?

    Drum to Disc Conversion

All good. GT4! I think I will do the front first and check the results befor doing the back. I alread have changed most of the brake lines to SS. Tow blow outs. Bad news. I put a new master on it recently, but I will eat the cost and put a NBS on when I do the rest. I will update after the...

    Drum to Disc Conversion

OK. I think I have a plan. I will use the 9.5 6 lug rear with drums in the back. Then replace the front brakes with rotors and calipers from the front of a heavy half. Thanks

Do the heavy half front rotors and calipers bolt directly on a K1500? I am thinking the larger rear drums from the heavy half rear and the larger front disc brakes may do what I need.

I really apprciate the info. Is there anything available with disc brakes 6 lug that will bolt up? Are the drums on that bigger that the 10 bolt rear (I assume that is a 14 bolt)? I found one nearby with 110K miles on it. Good price. What about the front brakes. Did the heavy half have better...

    Drum to Disc Conversion

This is the way to go. I found a lot of GT4 axles available for good prices. Disc and drum. My 4x4 is electric. Does this limit the choices for the replacement parts? Is there a modle year range for the axle I need to use? The only question is if I need a locking or semi floating axle (or...

    Drum to Disc Conversion

Hello guys, I'm new here, I have a 1998 1500, extended cab, short bed, 4x4. I just started using a push in camper (made for a short bed). I added air bags to the suspension. I sometimes need to tow a trailer while I have the camper loaded. It handles and rides fine, but I find the braking to be...
