    Horn installation - Do I need the relay?

    Weak ass horn on '99 Suburban

    I added a 22" long trumpet horn with a separate fuse and relay triggered by my existing horns. It's a 6 volt horn, so it's really loud on 12 volts. Hopefully I won't burn it out too quickly.

    Just curious, why were you trying to get the welded nut off? The Chiltons book that I bought in 1990 says torque the cab mount bushing bolt to 55 foot pounds.

    Yes to the threadlocker, 55 ft pounds torque, and don't use an impact to remove the bolts, it might break the welded nut loose (done that).

    I found out the hard way that an impact wrench can pop the welded nut loose. I removed the tool/jack box from behind the seat (13mm bolt behind driver, threaded rod in jack box) pulled the carpet back and used my trusty chisel to cut the goop sealing the plate.
