If only we were all smart enough to read pictures. The handle clearly shows sliding forward as well as tilting. So something internally to the seat is broken, which is obviously because the slide forward motor just makes grinding noises. Just didn’t expect it to change how that handle works too. Maybe I’ll tear the seat down and attempt to fix it since I’m still not able to find a replacement to buy.

I would think it would be cable actuated to release the slides when the seat is tilted forward.

Of course comparing your picture to mine, it looks like yours is already pretty far forward. Might just be at the end of its travel and the busted motor won’t allow you to move it back to a more rearward “home” position.

So lower handle only controls forward/backward function and no seat back tilt?
I just checked my bench and that’s how mine works.
What I’m calling the lower handle is the one on the seat bottom. Next to the door panel.

I like the wrench!

I’ll have to remove it and flip it over and look for a cable. Do you know if the motors can be replaced?

I think so but I can’t confirm. Have you been through the bucket seat alternatives sticky thread? There’s a tooon of information about the seat tracks and rails.

Tbh I got lost in the sauce over there. It was too much for a single morning poop reading session. I might have to revisit it. Anyone gonna turn it into an audio book?

I’ll get back on the seats this week, but something I need for the rearend swap is a button for the E locker. Anyone have a good option? I’d love to put something OEMIsh above or below the cargo light button.

Arrrggg these seats are going to be the death of me! I started to diagnose the grinding noise the forward and back motor makes in the driver seat and realized it’s not going to be repairable. I forgot to snap a pic but the motor conglomeration is like sealed inside a metal case welded to the frame, very lame. So I swapped the working motors and bracket from the Tahoe seat which was direct fit. However, the slide forward part of the access handle still doesn’t work. For some reason the compressor for lumbar support doesn’t work either. I tried multiple different pumps and switch’s I have between the 4 seats and non will activate when plugged into the truck. Yet when given 12v from a battery they kick right on. So either the switches I have are all bad, or something else is up.

On top of that I realized that I had my original and good passenger seat brackets off the seat from when I was originally going to swap seat brackets and use the leather one until I realized it didn’t have the access handle. Well the brackets were in the corner of my shop and my scrap man took them to the scrap yard :fc5716bd:.

So now I need passenger seat brackets, motors, and compressor. As well as, a driver seat that does what it’s supposed to do. I think I found a set at a junk yard an hour or so away but I won’t know till I call them Tuesday.

At this point I almost want to work out big bucks for some after market seats, but none of them have the access handles either

Dropped off the axle yesterday and it will probably be done by the weekend but I’ll be out of town and unable to install it. Unless I call in sick next week for a day which is a strong possibility at this point.

Also got word back about shocks and I think I’ll be ordering some 5165s with 360/80 valving front and waiting to hear back about the rear, I’m assuming 275/78. But I really don’t want it too stiff when not under load, I’ve towed with soft suspension before and I’m not overly worried about that. Just don’t want it to ride like a church pew unloaded. So if they are on the fence of 275/78 vs 250/70 I’ll go softer for sure. I think I need a hardware kit for a 5100series up front to make them fit like OEM so I’ll be just over the $1k mark on shocks which isn’t too bad at all.
