Our 1995 Suburban just made the 2200 mile trip to TN from CA. 7.4 tbi with 254k on it. Only issue was running hot in New Mexico in stopped traffic. It got a new radiator and water pump to be safe and no major issues since. Love these lazy cubic inches.
I lost maybe half a gallon when I did them. Make sure the truck is cool and work fast. Overall easy job. Took me 20 mins to do both and top off the system. Good luck
It's a switch. I broke the connector off of mine and had a hell of a time trying to find the correct part. Easy to swap, you'll lose a little coolant but it's not much if you work fast. Got mine on ebay. Here's the part number
