No cats in junkyards around here, they chop em out.
a good cat has higher temp at exit. So I have around 325-350° on the upstream of both cats. Bad cat was 275° exit and the good one was 415°.
also looked at just sensor 2 data for both banks and could see the bank 1 was moving a bit too...
Well I think I got an answer..and can’t believe I’ve been chasing my tail like this.
bank 1 cat seems bad. Infrared thermometer gave me the final clue.
I guess the way this system operates both banks show as fault? Not sure what I’ll do you. I have inspections here and no CEL for now..cats...
I will triple check, but pretty sure when I ‘erase codes’ it says ‘no codes present’.
I can see stored and pending, nothing in pending. Don’t think I’ve got a history option.
I don’t have codes since I cleared the one for upstream o2. Cleared code and put new o2..both banks. No codes since probably 100 miles of driving.
edit: CL-fault isn’t a code, it’s the status of the PCM. It just tells you what ‘mode’ it’s in. When the coolant temp comes down back to open loop...
this is about here my knowledge drops off. I do know when you have a single bank fault it just replicates the known good bank o2 readings and fuel trims into the bad bank. But that’s not what I have, I have both in fault mode.
Fuel trims on the two banks aren’t identical so seems like they...
Check out my first post in this thread. That’s as much of the issue as I understand. The part of this that’s really getting me is both bank being faulted at same time. This isn’t something I’ve seen before.
it is reported by a scanner, I mentioned the model somewhere in here but just regular...
Understood. I get a mix of both numbers and graphs depending on parameter. its an autel al619.
Will do more research on confirming if cats are OK. I was thinking since I had that post cat value of high 9X% it was OK. I think that basically is showing cat efficiency but not clear on it.
Truck...
I am not sure I know how this is done. I see o2 sensor voltages both up and downstream, and then a real high ~98% value that I think shows cat efficiency?
Simple enough answer thanks.
looking at data in the scan tool nothing looks out of place for the stuff I understand. MAP, and MAF numbers...
Hey all, first post. Usually the ole google and forum search is all it takes but not this time.
I have a 98 w/ 5.7 Vortec. When I look at the OBD scan tool I see on cold start, as engine warms up, it goes from OL to CL-Fault for both banks. Is this normal? Anyone with a scan tool want to plug...
