    Belt tensioner rattle

Not sure of the brand. I was super busy at the time, so I took it to the shop and got some odds and ends replaced...belt tensioner, u-joint, control arm bushing, and few other things. I'm glad you mentioned the AC because when I got it back from the shop, I repaired the AC on it. I put on a new...

    Belt tensioner rattle

I have a 1989 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 350. My belt tensioner had a bad bearing and was replaced. A week or so later, I started to hear a rattling noise from the engine bay, mostly when in drive or reverse. The noise is coming from the belt tensioner. When I put force on the tensioner, the noise...

89 GMC Volume up not working

I have a 1989 GMC Sierra 1500. See my radio below. I have owned this truck for about 3 months and the volume + and tune + buttons were finnicky and had to press hard to get them to work. Everything else on my radio works perfect besides some kind of ground humming. Yesterday my volume + quit...

    A/C Help - 1989 GMC Sierra 1500

ok I added more refrigerant. It doesn’t cycle much now. Maybe once every minute or 2. It’s 73 degrees here right now. The only issue i see now is a little bit of ice on the lines at the accumulator. Wondering if i vacuumed long enough or maybe where the cap was broke, it wasnt vacuuming correctly.

PlayingWithTBI, since you used the same condenser, how much refrigerant did you refill your system with?

    A/C Help - 1989 GMC Sierra 1500

Ok, I changed the accumulator, all orings, condenser, orifice tube (blue one for ford taurus), hp and lp switches (wiring it like PlayingWithTBI). I drained as much of the old oil from compressor as I could. I flushed the lines and evaporator. I put 4oz of ester oil in compressor and 4 oz in...

    A/C Help - 1989 GMC Sierra 1500

Thank you for the responses. Oreilly’s has the consdenser, hp and lp switch (for r134a) in stock, so im headed to pick them up now. I looked on both sides of my lp switch and there is no screw. You said you didn’t change yours anyway, so maybe I can save $24. Lol The condenser is the same...

    A/C Help - 1989 GMC Sierra 1500

Thank you! I will order that high pressure switch. If i change it later, will it leak freon or is it sealed? Can you link me to the proper low pressure switch for r134a as well? I took mine off today and i dont see an adjustment screw. Do you think I should upgrade my condensor to the one you...

    A/C Help - 1989 GMC Sierra 1500

I just purchased a 1989 GMC Sierra 1500. I'm wanting to try and fix the AC myself to learn and also because the closest AC shop is over an hour from here. It is currently an r12 system, but with the price of r12 I'm thinking I should go ahead and convert to r134a. So far I've bought manifold...

Upgrade stock amp along with speakers?

Thank you for the info. My cdm is 16072780. I’ll start looking for the better ones and also look into those speakers. I see everyone recommends them quite often. Do you happen to know how may extra watts the other CDM’s are pushing versus mine?

Upgrade stock amp along with speakers?

I have a 1989 GMC Sierra with tape deck and equalizer. I’m assuming I also have an amp with this unit? If so, can I upgrade the stock amp along with my stock 4x6 speakers or is it even necessary to upgrade amp? I might eventually add a amp and small sub, but not yet. I want to keep the the head...

What is this relay connector for?

I found, what looks like, a relay connector under the dash with no relay attached. It’s under the drivers side dash in the left corner. What is it for?

    New Seat Belts

Anyone know a good place to order grey seat belts for my 1989 GMC Sierra 1500 with bench seats? The driver and passenger seat belts are hard to get them retracted. LMC seat belts are 300 a set, JEGs is about 51 per seat belt. I would prefer close to original, but doubt its likely unless I get...
