Just to let you know that I have a 90 that is an HD rated at 8600 lbs while the standard is 7200. I found this out when I ordered a standard upper control arm, which is stamped. I had to return it for the HD, which is solid. They might not have called it HD but the option was there.

I have a 90 5.7 and evidently there was a standard version of 7,200 towing and an HD that could pull an extra 1,400 lbs (8,600 lbs). I'm not sure if they are still offered like that. I bought this for $1000 and didn't even realize it was an HD. I replaced the majority of the front end so that's...

Distributor cap and base moving but hold down bolt is tight

Definitely zero movement of the distributor itself as I have watched it multiple times. Also, the very light force needed to turn the cap (in this situation) would never be enough to turn the entire distributor.

Thanks and that's about what I figured. Pretty sure this is the cause of my rough cold-weather starts as well or at least a contributing factor. Any suggestions for a quality distributor that won't break the bank? Thanks again!!

I've never run across this before. Its important to note that the hold down bolt is doing it's job as the distributor itself is not moving. Only the cap and base that the cap attaches to is moving. If I grab the distributor cap and try to turn it in either direction I have about an inch total...
