    K1500 8.25 to 9.25 swap

Yes, I have meant to post them for quite some time. I will see what I can do.

    Transmisson swap

Transfer case front output is on different side in 85. What trans are you talking about?

    Pilot Bearing Orientation

The photos are rather hard to see on my phone, but the seal should be on the transmission side. The bearing and all the grease should be behind the seal, towards the engine. You don’t want grease weeping out onto your clutch.

    Bolt pattern swap

There are custom 6 lug hubs available. I thought about doing this on my square body years back, but decided against it. I think there is a lot of custom work involved - hubs, disc brake conversion, machined axle shaft flange, other? I don’t know all the details as I ended up going a different...

    Rear wheel bearing? - 99 Suburban C2500

I don’t think you stirred anything up, you made a good point about the bolt failure. The bolt pictured on RA is not correct, not sure what that is for.

    Rear wheel bearing? - 99 Suburban C2500

There is something funny with the RockAuto listing of the pin bolt. 14012702 shows up on other sites as the proper bolt, but shows a pack of 10 on RockAuto. I would suggest calling a drivetrain supplier or GM dealer about the pin and other parts as two pins are also listed on GM site and I see...

    Rear wheel bearing? - 99 Suburban C2500

Sorry for the delay and vagueness of my post. I should have clarified you can follow the process shown for 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.5 although I have not seen a breakdown specific to the 9.5 posted. I think the 7.5 only has clutches on one side, but the governor is similar. One difference between...

Am I the only one not logical?

And then forget you bought them. I go through my parts stash from time to time and it is like Christmas all over when I find something I forgot I purchased.

    Rear wheel bearing? - 99 Suburban C2500

It has been years since I had one apart other than for gears/bearings, so memory is a little fuzzy. I do remember the governor shafts/bushings being a pain to remove, cue expletives. There is a special tool, but you can improvise. Past the governor, I sure don’t recall anything difficult. I just...

    Rear wheel bearing? - 99 Suburban C2500

Correct, pin limits inward movement while C-clip acting against side gear limits outward movement. I have seen one diff that I can remember with chewed up mating surface between gear and diff case, but not common in my experience. I have seen broken pins and broken retaining bolts cause problems...

    Rear wheel bearing? - 99 Suburban C2500

Play in a C-clip axle is common like already stated, but 1/4” is definitely not OK. The clips are retained by a step in the differential side gear whose depth is approximately equal to the thickness of the C-clip (the differentials I can remember off the top of my head anyway and I don’t recall...

    Stock ball joint???

You already have bolts in place. Just remove the bolts and replace with new ball joint. Pretty quick job, but alignment is still recommended.

    K1500 8.25 to 9.25 swap

Good info @Gobistro00. I did the 9.25 swap with a 6” BDS which allowed me to use OE length 2500/3500 cv shafts. Only issues in my situation revolved around the differential being taller in relation to the lower driver side mount, which you mention, and the size of the inner seal on the knuckle...

Need some help/advice front passenger side axle shaft bearing and seal

The axle shaft is held in by a spring clip on the shaft and is inside the clutch gear. You can use a dead-blow hammer or slide hammer on the flange, it shouldn’t be terribly tight. I think GM service manual actually says to use brass drift against axle flange. Seal will pop out fairly easy with...

    Outer pinion bearing.

It sounds like the issue you are running into is not having the correct shims with the crush sleeve eliminator. You have to set the pinion depth with shims under the bearing closest to the gear and check the pattern without the crush sleeve or eliminator in place. When satisfied with the...
