I am considering swapping my 4L60E in my 94 Z coded 4.3 Work Truck to a standard shift. I know that there was a 4 speed plus overdrive and a five speed. Which would be better for pulling? When I worked for GM was in parts, not service.
When I worked in parts at a Chevy dealership, oe went for 150-200 but that was twenty years ago. You might check places like summit, godfather and pepboys. Just do your own install, it's not that hard and those places charge out the tailpipes
Also been thinking about trying to open a small shop or something to help the pickup drivers where I am now. We have one custom truck shop, but no one specializes in maintaining the older trucks here
More hoping to not go that in depth right now. Doing as much of the work myself due to not being able to work healthwise. One reason I am fixing him is to try to get where I can at least do some lawn/maintenance work for folks who know about my condition
Was not aware of the longevity and safety issues till you mentioned and I looked them up. Had no idea, most of the old school pickup drivers in my hometown use them. Rethinking that idea now.
Wolverine 180/190 is what I used on the 350 I dropped in my s10. Granted I raced it more than anything, but it worked decently as a daily driver and some of the off roading
Check the PCM itself, the connections and then you idle air control valve. If still doing it start checking all of the under hood sensors, connections and your pcv valve. The 350 in the mid nineties can be temperamental, but usually more in the high mileage.
I love my beast! Soon as he is running pics to follow. It may be a 4.3, but I rebuilt the top end and had a new set of 3.73 gears with spool in the rear to have better traction, stabilizers to keep shimmy down and had not truly pulled any loads. My first tranny was cracked when I purchased...
