Turns out I actually replaced the Tank Pressure Control Valve according to this illustration. I noticed the middle port on the canister is to "vent" however my new (and original) canister(s) both had sleeves covering them and appearing not to allow much venting. I have noticed a problem when opening my gas cap - there is a lot of pressure built up in my fuel tank. Truck is a 1990 w/ 5.7L w/ 52k miles and lived most of its life in Pueblo, Colorado.
