What is this?

I would look for an orange wire near the trailer harness at the rear of the truck. If there is, check it for power. If it has power, I'm wrong. If it doesn't, make sure the terminal in the engine bay is not touching anything and then check for continuity between the orange wire at the hitch end...

What is this?

Ok. It looks like the heavy orange wire may be for an auxiliary trailer battery. Lookup, "7-Way RV Blade — SAE Configuration"

It appears to be routed the same as my trailer brake power wire, as well, with the blue and white along the driverside frame.

Looks like power for a trailer brake to me. My ECSB 1500 has one just like it.
